Predictions for 2025: Congress catalysts

The trends shaping congresses, expos and conferences are evolving at a rapid pace. Developing technologies like Mixed Reality are poised to redefine engagement, while traditional touchpoints continue to deliver. Our analytics team predicts drivers of success in the year to come—and how you can stay ahead in a fast-moving, data-driven world.

Mixed Reality: trigger deeper engagement: 2024 was a breakthrough year for Mixed Reality (MR), especially in industries like healthcare, technology, and life sciences. No longer just a novelty, MR has proven itself as a powerful tool for creating immersive, interactive experiences that captivate and educate.

In the world of pharmaceuticals, for example, MR is transforming how healthcare professionals (HCPs) engage with complex scientific data.

Instead of passively viewing information on a touchscreen, HCPs can now interact directly with 3D renders of molecules, pathways, and mechanisms of action.

Beyond its educational value, MR also serves as a natural attractor. Delegates passing by a booth can’t help but be drawn in by the sight of others fully immersed in a virtual world. This hands-on experience often leads to longer and more meaningful conversations, as it allows for a deeper understanding of intricate concepts.

The curiosity it sparks drives foot traffic and encourages broader engagement, making MR a dual-purpose tool: one that informs and entices in equal measure. As we move into 2025, leveraging MR to create these highly interactive, visually compelling experiences will remain a key strategy for brands looking to stand out and leave a lasting impression on their audience.

Sustainable handouts are tangible take-homes. You might assume that the rise of digital interactivity has made handouts obsolete. Think again. Print materials—flyers, booklets, handouts— remained among the most engaging booth elements in 2024. As long as they are sustainable and relevant, there is a place for them.

Why? Delegates value something tangible to take home. A well-crafted handout not only deepens their understanding of your offerings but also serves as a physical reminder to stay curious. In an increasingly digital world, print provides a refreshing break and a touchpoint for meaningful follow-up.

UI = User important! The importance of user-centric design. With technology evolving rapidly, user expectations have never been higher. In 2024, we found that attention spans are shorter than ever—if users can’t find what they’re looking for quickly, they move on.

This is why UI (User Interface) design is critical. Optimised, intuitive navigation can increase engagement time by up to five times. Simple adjustments, like clear buttons and a seamless flow, can transform a frustrating experience into a delightful one. Bottom line: Always put the user first. A clear and engaging UI is no longer optional—it’s essential.

Spatial Design: The power of space. Analytics revealed a simple truth: a spacious booth is an effective booth. Overcrowded layouts deter visitors, while well-designed spaces invite them to explore and engage.

Striking the right balance is key. While it’s tempting to pack your booth with eye-catching features, ensuring comfortable seating, open walkways, and thoughtful layouts make a significant difference. Our design approach prioritises human behaviour, creating booths that are not just vibrant but also welcoming.

Accessibility: Breaking barriers. In today’s global congresses, accessibility isn’t just a nice-to-have—it’s a must-have. Delegates come from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, and ensuring your content resonates with everyone is vital.

From offering multilingual support to designing content that is culturally inclusive, we’ve seen how thoughtful accessibility efforts drive engagement. Making every visitor feel seen, heard, and valued is not just good practice—it’s good business.

Key Takeaways from the mccglc analytics team:

2024 taught us that the intersection of technology, design, and human connection is where the magic happens. Whether it’s leveraging AR, refining UI, or embracing print, the key to success lies in balancing innovation with accessibility and user-centric design.

As we look to 2025, let’s continue to learn from the data and create experiences that inspire, engage, and resonate with audiences around the world.
