Cyber Security

Mobile World Congress, 2018

Dark Matter exhibition design with customer engagement by MCCGLC

A head-turning art installation came to life within a vast, mirrored structure, launching a first-of-its-kind product.

Challenge

Challenge

The client’s main priority in 2018 was to showcase their range of cyber security products and capabilities in a cutting-edge booth space that reflected their forward thinking values.

Multiple sectors – any company, organisation or even country that uses a computer – needs cyber security, so we were tasked with creating an exhibition design that would highlight many different verticals as well as provide dedicated areas for presentations and private meetings.

2018 was also a big year for for this client because they were launching a new product, an uber secure mobile phone.

Approach

Approach

The client’s services were inherently difficult to communicate; cyber security is not a world well known to many, and its details are often complex and varied. The mystery of cyberspace endures, so we decided to play on the sense of intrigue that surrounds it.

We built our concept around the idea of the ‘space between’, the dark matter that surrounds all of us but is unseen and under the radar. A reflective ceiling and floor, as well as highly mirrored finishes on everything in the booth space, made delegates feel like they had truly entered the world of cyberspace.

The booth was split into a double decker structure, to ensure that private meetings could take place away from the business of the main booth, to give a sense of exclusivity.

Solution

Solution

This booth at MWC 2018 was the epitome of futuristic design. White, reflective finishes, mirrored walls and large LEDs transported delegates into the mysterious world of cyberspace.

The main focus of the event was the launch of a secure mobile phone, and we had to make it stand out in a 1000 sqm space. We used a combination of 3D modelling and innovative lighting to create a dynamic backdrop for the device that attracted lots of attention from the delegates. The launch display became a piece of art in itself, and was widely photographed throughout the event. We also installed an interactive 3D model, which represented a modern city and all the key entities within.

A bespoke app and AR game allowed delegates to explore this miniature world through the lens of cyber security, requiring them to ‘save’ certain parts of the city and thus showcasing the client’s offering.
